Four activists of movement for Iranian Azerbaijanis’ rights arrested

Baku. Ramil Mammadli – APA. Four activists of the movement for the rights of Iranian Azerbaijanis have been detained by law-enforcement bodies. Press service of World Azerbaijanis’ Congress told APA that Aydin Serdarniya, son of famous historian of South Azerbaijan Samad Serdarniya, had also been detained. Azerbaijani activists Aydin Serdarniya, Mahmud Fazli, Vahid Sheikhbayli and Neman Puryagub were accused of stirring up national discrimination and supporting the arrested Azerbaijanis.

Sources in Iran said that the detainees went to meet recently-released Azerbaijani students Sejjad Radmehr, Aydin Khajei, Feraz Zehtab, Elchin (Dariyush) Hatemi, Mensur Aminian, Ehsan Nejefineseb and Magsud Ahdi in Tabriz jail. An incident occurred between them and the police near the jail.

Some days ago the above-mentioned four Azerbaijanis were detained by intelligence bodies. Their families have not been told in which detention facility they are held.
