Elmar Mammadyarov receives delegation of EU-Azerbaijan parliamentary cooperation committee

Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received Marie Anne Isler Beguin, co-chair of the EU-Azerbaijan parliamentary cooperation committee and the delegation accompanying her, press service of Foreign Ministry told APA. Marie Anne Isler Beguin expressed her satisfaction with the parliamentary relations and underlined the importance of the recent discussions and the adopted resolution in Brussels for the prospects of cooperation. Marie Anne Isler Beguin said after the recent developments in the region European Union should pay much more attention to the frozen conflicts and underlined the importance of increasing efforts for the settlement of the conflicts.
Elmar Mammadyarov underlined that the protracted conflicts in the South Caucasus impeded security, cooperation and sustainable development in the region. Speaking about Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Elmar Mammadyarov said the conflict could only be solved within the framework of Azerbaijanâ€™s territorial integrity. The minister also noted that the European Union should strengthen efforts for ensuring security, mutual understanding and development in the South Caucasus. The sides also touched on the pre-election situation in the country, implementation of energy projects in Azerbaijan, development of non-oil sector, particularly tourism potential and other issues of mutual interest.
