Dmitriy Medvedev: â€œRussian-Azerbaijani relations are developing dynamically and we satisfy with this partnershipâ€

In the part of meeting attended by the journalists, the Russian president said it was important to discuss the situation in the South Caucasus with his Azerbaijani counterpart, APA quotes ITAR-TASS agency. â€œWe have to synchronize watches taking into account the problems that emerged in the Caucasian region after Georgiaâ€™s aggression. This would be helpful from the point of view of our countriesâ€™ interest in the Caucasusâ€™ stable development,â€ Medvedev said.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev emphasized that there was the need for consolidated efforts to ensure peace and stability in the region. The presidents held discussions on the economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia as well. The Russian president said goals determined during his official visit to Azerbaijan for the improvement of economic cooperation started to be realized. â€œI am hopeful that trade turnover between our countries will reach two billion USD before the end of year, it is our target. Current situation of the world economy is not easy, but development of economic cooperation between our countries even under such circumstances shows that our relations have no conjunctural character. Russian-Azerbaijani relations are developing dynamically and we satisfy with this partnershipâ€.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev also positively valued the level of bilateral economic-trade relations. â€œDevelopment of trade turnover between our countries has a rapid rate and it is gratifying case that structure of goods turnover is also extendingâ€. The Azerbaijani president said humanitarian relations between the countries were also developing and reminded about the opening of Moscow State Universityâ€™s branch in Baku. â€œIt shows that we are promptly solving the issues put before usâ€.
Then the meeting was continued without participation of media representatives.
