Sides positively assess outcomes of 23rd Baku meeting of Ad hoc Working Group on Caspian status

To him, the sides conducted comprehensive discussions on several issues and some progresses have been achieved during the negotiation process. Khalafov added that the sides had been coordinated for continuation of negotiations.
“We have presented to sides a draft agreement on regulation of mutual activity of customs, border and interior bodies of littoral states. We expect opinion of littoral states on the project,” he said.
Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister Nurlan Ermekbayev made a keynote speech and stated that the sides stood from the same position on several issues. Iranian representative Majid Sabir noted that Caspian littoral states had not any problem that they could not solve. Ambassador Alexander Golovin, Special Representative of Russian Foreign Ministry added that more results had been achieved in the round of negotiations.
“Naturally, Azerbaijani side has much service in this issue”, he said. Turkmen Deputy Foreign Minister Khoshgaldi Babayev stressed that every meeting had not positive results.
“Baku meeting was successful”, he said.
Khalafov addressing the press conference stated that all littoral states had been invited to Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan energy conference in Baku on September 9-10. Ad hoc Working Group on Caspian status will hold the next meeting in Astana.
