Roundtable “Armed Forces Welfare and the Democratic Society� held in Baku

The OSCE Office in Baku organized a two-day (13-14 February) national roundtable “Armed Forces Welfare and the Democratic Society� , APA reports.
Deputy head of OSCE Office in Baku Robin Seaword, deputy defense minister Chingiz Mammedov, Foreign Affairs Ministry officer Tofig Musayev, Canadian Armed Forces analyst for human rights John McGregor, Swiss Democratic Control of Armed Forces Advice Council member Villem von Eekelen addressed in the roundtable.
Mr.Seaword told reporters that the roundtable covered military practice, relations between military servants and civilians in OSCE member states, including the US, Germany, Great Britain, Canada, Belgium, Netherlands as well as Azerbaijan. He stated that no document is expected to be adopted at the end of the event.
“The conference aims to give developing Azerbaijan more information in this field and share the experience. The discussions are good platform to pass some decisions in the future. Each country has specific system, but we cannot say which one may be a model. Each country has political, economic, and military systems; some of them have developed much and some little. That’s why exchange of cooperation and practice is of great importance�, the deputy head said.
Seaword noted that the Nagorno Karabakh conflict will not be discussed in the roundtable. Relations between servicemen and the government will be on focus./APA/
