Russian expert: â€œThe weapons purchased by Azerbaijan from Israel are not against Iran, but for Nagorno Karabakh warâ€

Nuclear talks between Iran and six world powers held in Istanbul are victory of Iranian diplomacy and defeat of West, said Director General of Center for Studying Modern Iran, political analyst Rajab Safarov during the event at RIA Novosti news agency, APA reports. He said that no new proposal was made by Iran in discussions: â€œThe war is profitable neither for US nor Europe. Barack Obama doesnâ€™t need such conflict ahead of elections. The war with Iran would deepen economic crisis in Europe. During discussions Iran expressed its readiness to decrease uranium enrichment to 20% and proposed to establish a working group to calculate Iranâ€™s concrete demand for nuclear energy. According to the groupâ€™s reports Iran will use the nuclear energy in accordance with its need, and will have an opportunity to export the rest. Iran also demands Israel to sign non-proliferation treaty. Iran promised to close Fordo nuclear facility. Now the West has no ground to attack Iranâ€.

Vladimir Yevseyev, a specialist of the International Security Center at the Russian Academy of Sciences said that the results of Istanbul talks were expectable. He said that the victory of Ali Khameneiâ€™s supporters in the parliamentary elections encouraged Iran to make such proposals: â€œEverybody sees Iranian governmentâ€™s tough position in the negotiationsâ€.

Yevseyev expressed opinion about the $1.6 bln Israel-Azerbaijan arms deal and some claims that Azerbaijan opens its airdromes for Israel. He said he is not against arms deal between Azerbaijan and Israel: â€œAzerbaijan purchased weapons from Israel for Nagorno Karabakh war and to strengthen own defense capacity. These weapons are not against Iran. As regards the claims on airdromes given by Azerbaijan to Israel, I donâ€™t think that Azerbaijan could make such step. Azerbaijan doesnâ€™t need such conflictâ€.
