Roland Kobia: "As soon as Azerbaijan joins the World Trade Organization, we will offer Baku to sign free trade agreement"

Baku. Victoria Dementieva â€“ APA. â€œThe European Union supports Azerbaijanâ€™s admission to the World Trade Organization. As soon as Azerbaijan joins the organization, we will offer the country to sign a free trade agreementâ€, Head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan Roland Kobia told journalists, APA reports.

Asked whether at the meetings with Azerbaijani officials the EU raises the issue of freedom of assembly and the problem of political prisoners in the country, the ambassador said that the EU is constantly discussing with Azerbaijani Government the rights of all prisoners in Azerbaijan: â€œThese discussions are held within the subcommittees between Azerbaijan and EU.â€

Kobia also noted that the Council of Europe appointed a special rapporteur on political prisoners. "We hope that he will visit Azerbaijan."
