The U.S. Senate rejected a procedural vote to approve a bill that would allocate $1.15 trillion for the U.S. military through 2027, APA reports.
The meeting was broadcast on C-SPAN.
Fifty senators voted in favor of the bill, while 46 voted against. A 60-vote majority is required for further consideration. Representatives of the opposition Democratic Party stated that they would not support the allocation of these funds, particularly due to the resumption of hostilities between the United States and Iran. Democrats had previously strongly criticized the Washington administration's actions regarding the conflict with the Islamic Republic.
Bills concerning the Pentagon's annual budget typically receive support from both major American parties.
