APA’s Moscow correspondent reports that Russian experts, political analysts and historians participated in the event held at the Vestnik Kafkaza press center. Head of the Center for Post-Soviet Studies of Moscow State University named after Lomonosov, political analyst Alexey Vlasov said the historical events that caused the collapse of the Soviet Union, the causes of the bloody events that happened late in the 1980s and early in the 1990s had not been studied well enough. According to him, Nagorno Karabakh and other conflicts are still remaining a serious problem.
“If the experts do not study the causes of the bloody conflicts that accompanied the collapse of the Soviet Union, new victims may appear. The Khojaly massacre committed in February, 1992, is one of the most tragic events of the post-Soviet history. This tragedy has not been studied objectively by historians, sociologists and political analysts. The problem is that the scientific approach loses to stamps and political propaganda during studying such incidents. Why nobody is interested in the incident occurred in recent history and what should the historians do for supporting the humanist interest to the black and white pages of our general history.

Senior science member of the Institute for International Studies of the Moscow State Institute for International Relations Leonid Gusev said that the history of post-soviet area was studied very bad and no place was given in the education system to this period: “The lack of books and materials is observed on it. Being out of touch with the reasons of unsettled and continuing conflicts in many regions can lead to their escalation”.

Gusev said that the experts must contribute to the settlement process of these conflicts by establishing the neutral information sphere: “Those who research the conflicts must be attentive and careful during working on these problems”.
