Elmar Mammadyarov receives delegation led by EU Special Representative for South Caucasus and crisis in Georgia Philippe Lefort

Baku â€“ APA. Azerbaijani Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov received the delegation led by EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia Philippe Lefort. Press Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA that during the meeting, they exchanged views on the prospects of cooperation between the EU and Azerbaijan.

Minister Elmar Mammadyarov underlined that Nagorno Karabakh conflict is the top priority of our foreign policy and said this conflict is the biggest problem for Azerbaijan. The minister said that the biggest obstacle for the settlement of the conflict is the fact that the Azerbaijani lands are still under the occupation of Armenian armed forces. Minister Elmar Mammadyarov underlined the importance of changing the status quo, and said that the first step necessary for changing the status quo is the withdrawal of Armenian forces from the occupied lands. They also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
