Azerbaijani President receives French senators

Baku â€“ APA. On February 6, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received the delegation led by Deputy Chairman of France-Caucasus friendship group. Head of France-Azerbaijan Working group, member of Centrist and Republican Union in the Senate, Senator Nathalie Goulet.

APA reports that the delegation includes 5 senators â€“ Sylvie Goy-Chavent, Jean Marie Bockel, Herve Maurey, Andre Reichard, Jeanny Lorgeoux.

The Head of State thanked Goulet and the other senators for their fair position during the French Senateâ€™s discussion of draft law criminalizing the denial of made-up â€œArmenian genocideâ€. The President assessed this law as an initiative which distorts the history, is contrary to the democracy and freedom of speech and is based on false and fake reports and expressed hope that it wouldnâ€™t become effective.

Goulet underlined that she and the other senators would do best for extension of relations with Azerbaijan and said that they would give detailed information about it to Azerbaijani society during their meetings in Baku.
