Baku – APA. Consul General of Azerbaijan to Los Angeles Elin Suleymanov delivered speech at the University of California entitled “The Path to Freedom and Bloody Januaryâ€. Elin Suleymanov informed the participants about the January 20 events of 1990 and Moscow’s strong position towards Azerbaijan, the Consulate General told APA. He said the events of January 20 played important role in founding of independence of Azerbaijan. The Consul General emphasized that coercive policy of former USSR leadership against Azerbaijan turned just against Moscow and caused USSR collapse later.
The meeting was organized with the support of Middle East Research Center at the University of California. The professors and students of the university attended the event.
