Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has participated in the Inter-Parliamentary Union's high-level dialogue on "The Parliamentary Dialogue on Digital Governance," the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis told APA.
Speaking during the event, which she attended online, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova said that the issue of digital governance is becoming increasingly important for the international community.
According to her, digital transformation is no longer merely a technological process. It has become a key element of modern governance, sustainable development, and the delivery of efficient public services.
In her speech, the Speaker of the Milli Majlis noted that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to the development of digital governance. She stated that, as part of this approach, the Digital Development Council was established by a decree of the President of Azerbaijan to coordinate state policy in the fields of digitalization, e-government, artificial intelligence and innovation. She said that the Council is chaired by the First Vice President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mehriban Aliyeva. It was noted that the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan is actively working to strengthen the legal framework for digital innovation while at the same time ensuring legal certainty. A significant part of the legislative activities of the Azerbaijani Parliament is devoted to the development of digital governance and e-government. New laws are being adopted to support Azerbaijan's digital transformation, while the existing legislation is being regularly improved in line with technological progress and new requirements in the field of governance.
