Grain harvesting begins in Khojaly and Aghdara after 34 years - PHOTO

Residents have begun harvesting grain in Khojaly and Aghdara for the first time in 34 years, APA's Karabakh bureau reports.

According to the Public Relations Department of the Restoration, Construction and Management Service in Khankendi city and the Aghdara and Khojaly districts, abundant harvests have been obtained for the first time from grain fields cultivated on privately allocated land plots in the liberated districts of Khojaly and Aghdara.

In total, grain has been cultivated on more than 1,000 hectares in the Khojaly and Aghdara districts. The abundant harvest has once again confirmed the high fertility of the land, the effectiveness of the applied agricultural practices, and the efficiency of state support. Residents' active participation in the "Land Lease" project implemented in Ballija village of the Khojaly district has drawn particular attention. A total of 162 people applied for the project, of whom 132 successfully completed the training and examination stages and received certificates. Overall, 1,234.69 hectares of land were leased on a long-term basis to 89 certified participants. Under the project, families were allocated an average of 1.5 hectares of land.

To ensure the efficient organization of agricultural activities, nine agricultural cooperatives have been established in Ballija village. These cooperatives unite 72 members engaged in farming on 1,052.01 hectares of land. In addition, 12 peasant farming enterprises have been established in the village. These farms comprise 42 members and have been allocated a total of 152.68 hectares of land.

It should be noted that the results achieved during the first planting season make a significant contribution to providing employment for residents returning to their native homes under the Great Return Program, restoring agriculture, and strengthening the region's economic potential, while creating favorable conditions for Khojaly and Aghdara to become one of the country's main grain-producing regions in the coming years.
