Marcus Rashford has left Manchester United to join Aston Villa on loan until the end of the season, APA reports citing Eurosport.

According to multiple reports, the deal includes a £40 million option to buy in the summer.

Rashford came through the club's academy but told sports journalist Henry Winter that he was "ready for a new challenge" in an interview last November.

He has not made an appearance for The Red Devils since December 12, despite being a key player for the club since breaking into the first team in 2016.

"I would like to thank Manchester United and Aston Villa for making this loan deal happen," Rashford wrote on Instagram.

"I was lucky to have a few clubs approach me but Aston Villa was an easy decision - I really admire the way that Aston Villa have been playing this season, and the manager’s ambitions. I just want to play football and am excited to get started.

"I wish everyone at Manchester United all the best for the rest of the season."

Rashford has scored seven goals in 24 appearances across all competitions this season despite his lack of playing time.

His loan deal brings a temporary end to his 20-year affiliation with the club, during which time he has helped them win the UEFA Europa League, two FA Cups and two Carabao Cups.
