“ We had chances to advance to the qualifying group stage. The team members’ self-sufficiency and careless attitude towards the match were the reasons for failure”, Azeri team (U-17) head coach Yashar Vahabzada told APA-Sport.
Yashar Vahabzada accused the team of failure in the matches against Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1 to 6 October. “Though we were ahead in the score in the matches against Russia and Finland team the match ended not in our favour. We lost the victory in the last seconds in the match against Finland. The goal was scored by our footballer”.
Yashar Vahabzada said the rainy weather favoured their opponents Bosnia and Herzegovina opened the score in the first half. The rain favoured our opponents’ game. Our opponents were only defending in the second half. For this reason we lost the match”.
The head coach did not agree with the opinion that U-17 performed badly in the competition. “We managed to advance to the second round last year. This time we competed away. The injured leading player Amit Guluzada was absent. Shakhriyar Khalilov injured himself in the first round. The striker Orkhan Hasanov did not help the team in that match. All these things affected our game”. /APA-Sport/
