Quarrel broke out today at the match between FC Shahdag and FC Genjlerbirliyi in Guba in Azerbaijani championship, APA-Sport reports.
Genjlerbirliyi left the field protesting against referee Anar Niyazov who appointed a penalty kick after 75 minutes. By that time Sumgait’s team scored a goal. Shahdag forward Ahmed Tijani equalized the score in penalty kick. The referee showed the penalty point again in additional time. FC Gernjlerbirliyi vice-president Vagif Sadigov ordered the team to leave the field as a protest to the decision.
The vice-president commented on the incident after the match.
“We didn’t protest against the penalty. I didn’t see the scene. We protested that the decision was made after additional time was over. The referee added 2 minutes to the match but the decision was made in third. Genjlerbirliyi is always punished anyway. Such biased decisions put club leadership and coach staff in jeopardy”, he said.
FC Shahdag president Beybala Mammedov told APA-Sport that penalty was a fair decision.
“I think there was a foul in additional minute and the penalty decision was fair”, he said. /APA-Sport/
