“It is a pity that our clubs want to join national championship but some are not interested in formation of child teams attached to their clubs. They just ignore it. Some don’t even think about child football schools”, AFFA president Ramiz Mirzeyev stated at the 11th conference today, APA-Sport reports.
Mirzeyev said the issue requires professional approach.
“Top division clubs’ U-18 and U-16 are participating in national championship. But I want to underscore that this event shouldn’t be considered satisfactory. There should be professional approach to the issue. We should take appropriate steps in order to attract children’s interest and keep them in football”, he said.
While speaking of child football Mirzeyev touched boarding schools. He said it is necessary to establish such schools.
“If we want to raise children’ interests in football, such schools are necessary in our country. They should attend these schools. But most clubs in Baku have no stadium or even camp. In this case, it is no use talking about the development of child football. AFFA intends to open a boarding school as soon as we can afford it”, he said.
Mirzeyev also commented on the encounters between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
We concern over the draw of our squad in the same group with Armenia. Azerbaijan has no economical, political, social or cultural ties with Armenia and that’s why it is impossible the matches venues to be Baku and Yerevan”, he said. /APA-Sport/
