In the first half of 2024, the current account surplus of Azerbaijan's balance of payments amounted to USD 2.6 billion, Samir Nasirov, director of the Statistics Department of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan said this at the briefing, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, the share of current account in GDP was 7.5%. In the oil and gas sector, the surplus of the Central Bank was USD 6.9 billion, and the deficit of the Central Bank in the non-oil sector was USD 4.3 billion.
It should be noted that the Central Bank and international financial organizations forecast that Azerbaijan's current account will be in surplus by the end of 2024.
