Azerbaijan's insurance market collected a total of 719.4 million manats in premiums from January to May 2025, marking an 11.7% increase compared to the same period last year, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan told APA.
Of the total, 417.7 million manats came from life insurance and 301.7 million manats from non-life insurance. Voluntary life insurance accounted for 370.6 million manats, while compulsory life insurance stood at 47.1 million manats. For non-life insurance, 177.6 million manats came from voluntary policies, and 124.1 million manats from compulsory ones.
Insurance payouts rose by 14.8% year-on-year, reaching 314.8 million manats. Of this, 205.3 million manats (a 20.5% increase) were life insurance payouts, while 109.5 million manats (a 5.4% increase) were paid under non-life insurance. Payouts for compulsory and voluntary insurance amounted to 2.2 million and 54.3 million manats, respectively.
