Azerbaijan is considering the implementation of a carbon tax, Ahmad Ahmadov, Head of the Legislative Monitoring and Business Entities Affairs Department of the Tax Policy Department of the State Tax Service, said during his speech at the VIII Eurasian Forum of Accountants and Auditors in Baku, APA-Economics reports.
"To reduce carbon emissions, the possibility of implementing a carbon tax or similar taxes, taking into account international experience, is a focus alongside other tools related to green economy initiatives adopted by countries for environmental protection," Ahmadov added.
He emphasized that in the coming period, business entities operating in the ecological field within the framework of the "Green Energy" strategy, contributing to the improvement of the environment, as well as foreign investors who play an active role in the production of energy from renewable energy sources, additional promotional economic instruments to increase the interest in such projects and stimulate investments will be used, where tax benefits will take the main place.
