As of June 1, 2025, the number of wage-employed workers in Azerbaijan's economy was 1,769.2 thousand people, APA-Economics reports, citing the State Statistical Committee.
According to the data, 873.0 thousand of them were employed in the public sector, and 896.2 thousand in the non-public sector.
Among the wage-employed, 18.7% worked in trade and vehicle repair, 18.6% in education, 13.6% in industry, 8.6% in health and social services to the population, 6.6% in construction, 6.3% in public administration and defense; social security, 4.2% in transport and warehousing, 3.9% in professional, scientific and technical activities, 2.4% in agriculture, forestry, and fishing, 2.3% in financial and insurance activities, and 14.8% were engaged in other sectors of the economy.
In January-May 2025, the average monthly nominal wage of wage-employed workers in the country’s economy increased by 9.1% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, reaching 1,095.0 manats. The highest average monthly nominal wages were recorded in the mining industry, financial and insurance activities, information and communication, professional, scientific and technical activities, as well as in the transport and warehousing sectors.
