Tariff Council changes prices for water, mail and passenger services
After discussions of the tariffs for water, on the bases of “Azersu†(Azerwater) Joint-Stock Company’s appeal, and taking into account that the cost of 1 c/m of water is significantly lower then its tariff, the TC revised it. The Tariff Council has fixed use of water services, including VAT, to the population of Baku, Sumgait, Ganja, Mingechevir, Shirvan, Khirdalan cities, and the Absheron region – 0.30 AZN per 1 m3, for other regions – 0.25 AZN per 1 m3, for countrywide groups of non-consumer population – 1 AZN, tariffs for discharge of waste water services: for population – 0.6 AZN, for other users – 0.30 AZN. The tariffs for the consumers that use water as a raw material have not been changed and remained at the current level. At the same time, in consumers’ group of the people, the subscribers, who don’t use the counter, monthly consumption rate of the water per one person has been lowered from 6 m3 down to 5 m3.
The Tariff (price) Council also considered at the meeting the domestic passenger services, on the basis of the appeal of Azerbaijan State Railway “CJSCâ€, and fixed the ticket prices depending on the routes and type of carriage. The new tariffs vary depending on the distance and directions: for the common trains 3-19 AZN, for speedy company trains 14-25 AZN. Price for bedclothes has also been included in the tariff. Passenger fare in the common electric trains has been fixed between 0.20 AZN – 2 AZN, in the speedy electric trains between 0.60 AZN - 6 AZN. In decision making, the existing tariffs for passenger transportation, approved in 1997, which were several times lower than the costs of these services, were taken into account.
The conducted researches show that the new tariffs, in comparison with the tariffs of the neighboring states and the CIS countries, are lower.
The new tariffs will come into effect on February 1, 2011.
