Baku-APA. Earlier in the day, several hundred activists gathered in the French capital to honor the memory of Clement Meric, a left-wing young man killed in 2013 in a fight with far-right radicals, APA reports quoting Sputnik.

According to the BFMTV broadcaster, police used tear gas and batons to discipline and disperse the protesters as the latter started rioting, which was preceded by insulting words towards police. As a result of the clashes, four protesters were arrested.

The TV channel reported that the protesters had damaged several vehicles, including a car belonging to the municipality.

In June 2013, Meric, 18, was heavily beaten in a clash in a shopping area between far-right and anti-fascist activists. Few hours after the fight, the young man was declared brain-dead, which caused a wide public resonance.
