The UK will continue to support Ukraine "regardless of what happens elsewhere", the defense minister Grant Shapps has said, APA reports citing Sky News.
Grant Shapps said he believed the US and Poland would maintain their strong support for Ukraine despite domestic pressures.
It was understandable that any tensions over backing Ukraine would surface during an election but Poland's support had been "magnificent", he said.
Turning to the US, he said "we're a long way" from the country withdrawing support.
"Britain will, regardless of what happens elsewhere, take a leadership role."
