German Chancellor Friedrich Merz held a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. German cabinet spokesman Stefan Cornelius told reporters, APA reports.
"Both discussed primarily the situation in Lebanon and the Palestinian territories. The Chancellor emphasized that there should be no steps leading to the de facto partial annexation of the West Bank," Cornelius noted. Merz also "emphasized the importance of the XO agreement between the US and Iran," calling it the best chance for stabilizing the situation.
