Cooperation between the European Union and the United Kingdom in foreign policy, security and defence has never been more important, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas said in a post on X, APA reports.
She congratulated the United Kingdom's new Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband on taking office and said she had met with him in Manila ahead of the ASEAN Regional Forum.
The post reads:
"EU-UK cooperation on foreign policy, security, and defence has never been more important. There is strong momentum to deepen and accelerate our Security and Defence Partnership.
Congratulations on your new role as UK Foreign Secretary, Incumbent Ed Miliband. It was a pleasure to meet you in Manila today, ahead of the ASEAN Regional Forum.
We had the opportunity to exchange on our support for Ukraine, freedom of navigation, the situation in the Middle East, and the broader geopolitical landscape.
I am confident we will work well together and continue strengthening the EU–UK partnership."
