A drone flew through the airspace of the Republic of Moldova and exploded near the village of Hîrbovăț, in the Anenii Noi district, the Ministry of Defence said, Moldovan media reports.
The incident occurred this morning, September 30, around 05:43, amid massive attacks by the Russian Federation on Ukraine.
According to the institution, the national integrated airspace monitoring system detected a drone flying over Moldovan territory. The aircraft crashed and exploded in an area outside the locality.
Police and National Army teams are deploying to the site to investigate. The Ministry of Defense states that the Air Operations Service is continuing to monitor the airspace in coordination with competent authorities and partners.
No casualties have been reported so far.
The Ministry of Defense advises citizens not to touch or move any unidentified objects or fragments thereof if discovered, but rather to call the 112 emergency service.
The institution said it would provide further details about the incident.
