At least one person was killed and 15 were injured when a car drove into a crowd of people near the Tiergarten park in central Berlin, APA reports citing N-tv.
"A car allegedly drove into Tiergarten Park and struck several people, injuring them," police reported. According to a law enforcement spokesperson, one person died at the scene despite resuscitation efforts. Rescuers are assisting 15 other injured people. "We are conducting an intensive search for suspects," Berlin police emphasized. A police helicopter is also involved in the operation. Focus-online reports 14 injuries.
The incident occurred around 10:00 PM (11:00 PM Moscow time). A driver sped through the Tiergarten in a "small white van." While attempting to escape, the driver crashed. He exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Photos online show the white minibus, which had crashed into a tree and has visible signs of impact.
