A large quantity of narcotics — dried marijuana — has been detected and seized as a result of comprehensive operational-search and customs control measures carried out by officers of the Bilasuvar Customs Department, the State Customs Committee told APA.
A vehicle transporting a shipment of “fresh onions” from the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Russian Federation in transit through the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan was subjected to a thorough inspection at the department’s Bilasuvar customs post using a stationary X-ray scanner and a customs service dog.
During the inspection, 80 packages containing a total net weight of 25 kilograms and 570 grams of dried marijuana were discovered concealed from customs control in a makeshift compartment in the lower part of the wooden pallets on which the cargo had been loaded.
An investigation into the case is underway.
