The Hill: Republicans unhappy with Hegseth's performance as Pentagon chief

Leaders of the ruling Republican Party in the US Senate are dissatisfied with Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth's personnel policy, the lack of plans to end the war with Iran, and the failure to persuade Democrats to support funding for the conflict, APA reports citing The Hill newspaper.

According to them, tensions between Hegseth and influential Republicans will reach a climax this fall, when the Washington administration seeks Congressional funding for more than $70 billion to cover the mounting costs of the war with Iran. Republicans intend to demand additional information from the defense secretary regarding the resignation of Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll and other Pentagon officials.

Some Republicans accuse Hegseth, who previously worked for Fox News for eight years, of incompetence. Lawmakers are also calling on US President Donald Trump to fire the secretary.
