An assassination attempt has been made on Russian Aerospace Forces officer Nikolay Varpakhovich and his driver in the city of Engels, the Baza Telegram channel reports.
According to the report, an unidentified person approached the house where the serviceman was staying on a motorcycle.
The person suspected of carrying out the attack reportedly had their face concealed by a helmet.
The serviceman was injured in the attack, while his driver also suffered a gunshot wound.
According to the Shot Telegram channel, the officer was hospitalized in serious condition. One bullet struck him in the face and another hit his body. The report said the serviceman was taken to Saratov.
