The first production within the framework of the unrestricted gas processing project in the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field block (ACG) may begin at the end of this year, Tamam Bayatli, head of the press service of BP-Azerbaijan, told journalists, APA-Economics reports.
According to her, the initial well is currently being drilled to produce gas from two priority layers, and this process is expected to be completed in the second-third quarter of this year.
Tamam Bayatli noted that gas production will not begin immediately after the well is drilled. The well must be connected to the existing gas system from the West Azeri platform so that the "blue fuel" can be transported from the well to the Sangachal terminal.
"For this, a large amount of equipment must be installed on the platform, and work is currently underway in this direction," Tamam Bayatli noted.
She added that the installation work does not require the platform to be stopped.
