Reconstruction works carried out in energy sector in Khankendi, Khojaly, Aghdara and Khojavand

Over the past two years since the anti-terror measures, in accordance with the instructions of the head of state, large-scale construction and reconstruction works have been carried out by AzerEnergy in the cities of Khankendi, Khojaly, Aghdara and Khojavand, AzerEnergy told APA-Economics.

Urgent repair and restoration works were carried out at the 50 MW “Sarsang” Hydroelectric Power Plant, which had been left unattended during the period of occupation, and the plant was commissioned in early October 2023. In addition, the 10 MW “Hasanriz,” 3 MW “Toragay-1,” 5.9 MW “Toragay-2,” 5 MW “Toragay-3,” and 0.8 MW “Toragay-4” small hydroelectric power plants in the Aghdara district were repaired, restored, and connected to the grid.

In line with the Karabakh Energy Strategy, modern infrastructure has also been built in the region:

- To ensure the stable power supply of Khankendi, a fully enclosed 110/35/10 kV “Khankendi-1” substation has been constructed and is already ready for operation. A 12 km double-circuit line has been laid from the “Shusha” substation to this facility, and a 1.8 km section of the city has been supplied via underground cable.

- Underground cable tunnels have been built from the 110 kV “Khankendi-1” substation towards the 110 kV “Aghdam Junction” and “Hasanriz” substations.

- The staff of the Khankendi Network Area was selected from among the local population and engaged in work after undergoing special training courses.

- A third circular energy supply line has been established in the direction of Kalbajar. For this purpose, new 110 kV lines have been laid along the Dashkasan–Kalbajar and Kalbajar–Gorchu routes, and a 16.7 km line along the Kalbajar–Hasanriz route to Aghdara has been completed.

- A 14.7 MW “Gozlukorpu” Small Hydroelectric Power Plant has been built on the Tartar River, with construction and installation works completed and final adjustment works currently underway.
