Gas transportation via main pipelines decreases in Azerbaijan

A total of 17.1 billion cubic meters of gas was transported via main pipelines in Azerbaijan in January–May 2025, marking a 1.3% decrease compared to the same period last year, APA-Economics reports, citing the State Statistical Committee.

Of the total volume, 54.1% was transported through the South Caucasus Pipeline (Baku–Tbilisi–Erzurum), which delivers gas extracted from the Shah Deniz gas-condensate field.

During the reporting period, 9.27 billion cubic meters of gas were transported via this pipeline, down by 2.1% year-on-year.

For comparison, Azerbaijan transported 40.3 billion cubic meters of gas via trunk pipelines in 2024, a 2.7% increase from the previous year. Of that, 56.6% was delivered through the South Caucasus Pipeline, totaling 22.85 billion cubic meters—up by 4.3% year-on-year.
