Ahead of the November 1 deadline agreed to by European Union countries to fill their gas storages to 90 percent of capacity, the current gas storage level EU-wide is more than 95 percent, the European Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson said on October 31, APA reports.

During the energy crisis, EU member states agreed to a legally binding target to fill their gas storages to 90 percent of capacity by November 1 each year, to ensure sufficient security of supply and market stability for the winter months.

Citing Gas Infrastructure Europ, the EC said that there is currently about 100bcm of gas in storage in the EU, which represents around one-third of the EU’s annual gas consumption.

Recall that starting from December 31, 2020, the transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Europe through the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) began.
