Azerbaijan balances energy security and sustainability, said the Deputy Minister of Energy Kamal Abbasov during his speech at the Baku Energy Forum, APA-Economics reports.
O bildirib ki, Azərbaycan müasir enerji ehtiyaclarını qarşılamaqla yanaşı, daha təmiz və dayanıqlı gələcək üçün də hazırlıqlar görür.
According to him, while continuing to invest in gas infrastructure, the country is also seriously focusing on the development of the renewable energy sector: “Azerbaijan has strong solar and wind potential. Especially in regions like Absheron and Karabakh, we want to diversify our energy sources and reduce emissions by utilizing these opportunities.”
The Deputy Minister added that last year’s hosting of COP29 demonstrates Azerbaijan’s support for global climate goals and its active desire to participate in the energy transition: “We strive to establish the right balance between energy security and environmental sustainability.”
According to Kamal Abbasov, amid changing global gas markets, Azerbaijan is increasing natural gas production, improving its infrastructure, and continuing to meet the energy needs of partner countries. At the same time, the country is supporting the transition to clean sources by expanding the renewable energy sector in parallel.
