The interruption of gas and electricity lines from Azerbaijan to Armenia due to the conflict was a shocking event for Armenia's gas and electricity system, the country’s Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Hakob Vardanyan said in his remarks at Tbilisi International Silk Road Forum, APA’s Georgia correspondent reports.

He expressed hope that peace will come to the region and that Armenia will be able to diversify its energy sources like in the Soviet era.

"Cutting gas and electricity lines from Azerbaijan to Armenia due to the conflict was a shocking event for Armenia's gas and electricity systems. Because at that time we were buying gas from Azerbaijan, and at that time we started the construction of a new gas line through Georgia to supply gas to our country. I hope that peace will come to our region and we will be able to cooperate and diversify our energy systems, as we did those times," the deputy minister added.
