Azerbaijan nominated for vice presidency of IRENA Assembly’s 17th session

Within the framework of the 16th Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, the candidate countries for the presidency and four vice-presidencies of the Assembly’s 17th session have been presented, the Ministry of Energy told APA-Economics.

In line with geographical representation and the rotation principle, the Republic of Korea’s candidacy has been approved for the presidency of the Assembly’s 17th session from the Asia and Pacific regional group. The vice-presidents of the Assembly are selected from each of the four remaining regional groups. The candidacies put forward for the vice-presidential positions are Azerbaijan from the Europe and Others regional group, the Comoros from the African regional group, the Kingdom of Tonga from the Asia and Pacific regional group, and Grenada from the Latin America and Caribbean regional group.

Note that the seventeenth session of the Assembly will be held in 2027.
