To date, Azerbaijan has attracted approximately 144 billion US dollars in foreign investment to the oil and gas sector, said Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov at the 1st Azerbaijan International Investment Forum, APA-Economics reports.
He noted that Azerbaijan was the first country to open the Caspian Sea to international investors and create energy corridors from the Caspian to the Mediterranean, Black, and Adriatic Seas. Through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline, 540 million tons of Azerbaijani oil and 53 million tons of Central Asian oil have been delivered to world markets so far.
“Currently, cooperation with Central Asian countries is entering a new phase. For the first time, the integration of electricity grids between Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan is planned. This will lay the foundation for the Trans-Caspian Energy Corridor and make the region a leader in the green transition,” the minister added.
