“We are also cooperating at a very high level within the framework of the ‘Belt and Road’ initiative. In particular, work is progressing rapidly in the areas of the China–Europe railway connection and the Trans-Caspian corridor, and Azerbaijan’s role is strengthening in this regard,” said Lu Mei, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Azerbaijan, during her speech at the official opening ceremony of the 240 MW “Khizi-Absheron” Wind Power Plant built by Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power company at the Gulustan Palace, APA reports.
"As noted in President Ilham Aliyev’s interview with the media on the results of the year, Chinese companies are actively involved in the development of renewable energy in Azerbaijan, and Azerbaijan has chosen Chinese companies as strategic partners. This is due to their professionalism, the quality of their work, and the rapid implementation of projects. This project is, in fact, the first and a very large wind power project implemented in Azerbaijan. Now that it has been commissioned, nearly 300,000 households will benefit from it. This will support the efficient and sustainable development of Azerbaijan as well as the region," the Ambassador noted.
