The alliance spent $250 million in total on ten vessels brought to the Caspian Sea over the past 6 years.
Caspian Qala Platform Supply Vessel, built in Norway’s SIMEK Shipyard, is equipped with DP2 Dynamic positioning system, a computer controlled system to automatically maintain a vessel’s position and heading by using her own propellers and thrusters.
Caspian Breeze is a fast supply and passenger boat, built in DAMEN Shipyard in the Netherlands.
The new boats are mostly staffed by Azerbaijani nationals. The both vessels will be used for Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli and Shah Deniz platforms.
The Caspian Oil Fleet- BYUI Caspian Alliance operates 16 ships, 10 of which are SOCAR owned vessels built in 1980s.
Rovnag Abdullayev, President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan, said the alliance plans to buy 3 new boats in 2 years.
“The successful oil strategy allows bringing moderns ships to the Caspian Sea. These vessels were hired by BP on long-term contracts,” he added.
