Ilham Aliyev: "It depends a lot on the position of Azerbaijan in the region"

Baku-APA. "Azerbaijan has already been recognized as a strong state in the world, our international relations are expanding, number of our friends is growing. Azerbaijan is a member of the most prestigious international organizations in the world," said President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at a ceremony to launch drinking water supply from Kulullu reservoir to Kurdamir. The President stressed that it depends a lot on the position of Azerbaijan in the region and all these successes were achieved thanks to the talent and hard work of the Azerbaijani people.

"But 20 years ago, we were in the first years of our independence, and we all remember those days. Then overall development of Azerbaijan was under question. Azerbaijan was almost breaking up, there was a civil war, no reforms in the economic sphere and the industry was completely paralyzed. At that time, there were very pessimistic thoughts about the future of Azerbaijan in the world and in the country. But the strong will, reforms and the unity between government and the people rescued Azerbaijan from these disasters, "- said the Head of the State.

President Ilham Aliyev stressed that 1993 was really crucial for Azerbaijan and the determination, courage and wisdom of the great leader Heydar Aliyev, the faith of the people in him saved Azerbaijan from the disaster: "We live in such a region, where you see what problems happen- confrontations, clashes and wars. We must protect and are protecting our country with strong and independent policy. At the same time, the ongoing domestic reforms both in the political and economic spheres strengthen our country in solution of social issues. Today Azerbaijan is conducting independent policy completely. There are the will of Azerbaijani government and strong economy behind this policy. And we - the people of Azerbaijan have created a strong economy. "
