He made the remarks in the opening of the 4th Global Baku Forum titled “Towards a multipolar world” on March 10.
Serageldin noted that the Greek crisis has revealed many problems in the market economy.
“The number of countries eager to cooperate under the motto of “Towards a multipolar world” has increased. The terrorist organization “Al-Qaeda” worsened the attitude towards the Muslim population in the West. It is not only economic but also social and cultural issues. Therefore, it was decided to establish the Nizami Ganjavi International Center. We realized that we are gradually moving towards a multipolar world,” he added.
The co-chair noted that the Syrian crisis will be separately discussed at the forum.
“Furthermore, we must take into account the distinctiveness of countries such as Iran and Afghanistan. We must understand that it is necessary to work together to solve global problems. Even in Europe and the US with a developed democracy, societies are being divided and democracy faces challenges. In order to prevent extremism, there is a need to attract more young people to the ICT sector. Modern way of thinking can lead to the elimination of extremism. We shouldn’t try to impose democracy in our countries with the factors violating human rights,” he concluded.
