CEC confirms one more candidate for presidency

APA reports that the meeting’s protocol dated August 11, 2013 was confirmed. Following this, a decision was made to amend boundaries, dislocation and graphic presentation of certain constituencies. CEC deputy chairman Natig Mammadov spoke about this.

CEC secretary Arifa Mukhtarova announced the candidacy of Ilgar Ali Mammadov (Altay), who was nominated himself on his own initiative.

A decision was passed to confirm Ilgar Mammadov’s candidate for presidency.

Addressing the meeting, CEC chairman Mazahir Panahov asked the candidates to be serious about the signature process.

Eight candidates have submitted necessary documents to the CEC to participate in the upcoming presidential elections. They are: “Chairman of New Azerbaijan Party, President Ilham Aliyev, Chairman of Freedom party Ahmad Oruj, Citizens and Development Party chairman Ali Aliyev, Liberal Democratic Party of Azerbaijan chairman Fuad Aliyev, chairman of Azerbaijan Social Democratic Party Araz Alizadeh, chairman of Whole Azerbaijan Popular Front Party Gudrat Hasanguliyev, Umid party chairman Iqbal Aghazade and lawyer Ilgar Mammadov (Altay)”.

The Central Election Commission passed a decision to hold presidential elections on October 9.

Presidential elections are held in Azerbaijan every 5 years. The previous elections were held on October 15, 2008.
