Ali Hasanov: â€œThe Azerbaijani people and society have entered a very responsible period this yearâ€

Hasanov said the Azerbaijani people and society have entered a very responsible period this year.

He said that 2013 is generally accompanied by events of national importance and one of these events is the upcoming presidential elections.

Hasanov noted that transparent and fair elections cover formation process of a democratic society in every country and the people are source of power in Azerbaijan according to the Azerbaijani Constitution: “The voter's position, the vote given due to his/her will finally formulates and gives mandate to a government. This is the realization of the will of the people.”

Hasanov underlined that Azerbaijan determined its political system after gaining independence at the end of the last century: “One of the elements characterizing political systems is a state. A state is a system regulating social relations through laws in the society. There are two kinds of states, democratic and non-democratic, open and closed. Every country has its own system of state management and it is inexpedient to transfer the system of one state to another one. For example, it is not right to apply to Egypt the system of state management in the US. It is inexpedient to transfer to Tunisia the system of democratic state management in Japan.”

Assessing the state management systems of a number of states, international organizations, official of the Presidential Administration said subjective moments often appear.

“Such subjective moments appear in the assessments regarding Azerbaijan. We know that these assessments are sourced from private interests. We express our position, objection regarding this,” he said.
