Azerbaijani CEC Chairman says parliamentary elections may be pushed forward for COP29

In accordance with the requirement of the legislation, parliamentary elections must be held on November 3, said Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan (CEC) Mazahir Panahov, APA reports.

He noted that it's discussed whether to push forward the parliamentary elections due to COP29:

"CEC always conducts extensive educational activities before the elections. It's about time. These days, we even discussed compiling educational program at the meeting. We carry out our activities based on that said program. Whether the parliamentary elections will be pushed forward due to COP29 is being discussed. In case of change, only the election can be pushed forward in accordance with the requirement of the legislation. In accordance with the requirement of the legislation, the parliamentary elections cannot be pushed back from the first Sunday of November. We must start urgent educational activities even for the beginning of November in order to carry out our activities related to it. You will witness practical steps in the opcoming days."
