Lala Shovkat: â€œALP will hold its congress in the near futureâ€

Baku. Elnur Mammadliâ€“APA. â€œAzerbaijan Liberal Party has few opportunities to hold its congress. Although we are looking forward to hold the congress in the near futureâ€, ALP leader Lala Shovkat told APA. She said the party expected for the amendments to the law on political parties for long time. As the amendments are delayed, the party needs to hold its congress. â€œIn fact, Avaz Temirkhan is a chairman of the party and we need to make it officialâ€. Shovkat said local executive authorities didnâ€™t provide the regional organizations of the party with venues and therefore the congress was delayed.
Lala Shovkat resigned from ALP chairpersonship in 2003 and since than the party has been without chairperson.
