If we go to the election together, we can establish the election block”, Chairman of Umid party Igbal Agazadeh told APA. He said the parties would discuss the details of their participation in the election. “I think we can reach agreement because the parties joined the movement have same will toward this. The society also needs in the unity of opposition. There is no reason to retreat”. Agazadeh said if the parties established the election block, they would nominate single candidates for the municipalities.

Leader of the Azerbaijan Liberal Party Lala Shovkat also confirmed the agreement the movement reached for joint participation in the municipal election. She told APA there is no decision about the concrete steps yet, but they will participate with the single candidates.

Head of the Musavat Party’s central office Arif Hajili said they supported the largest coalition to be established in the municipal election. “We consider that the parties joined the Movement for Karabakh and the Republic will found this coalition. It is necessary to make efforts for the unity of opposition during the municipal election. Other parties could also join the unity, but the movement parties will dominate it”.

Chairman of Azerbaijan Democratic Party Serdar Jalaloglu said initial agreement had been reached to continue the activity of the movement in three directions:
“Achieving cancel of the results of March 18 referendum, forthcoming local elections and Nagorno Karabakh problem,” he said.

Jalaloglu said the main thing was the movement’s participation in the local elections from the unique position.
“As regards admission of other forces to the movement, we have not discussed this issue yet,” he said.

Chairman of Citizen and Development Party Ali Aliyev told APA that there was an intention to jointly participate in the local elections.

Deputy Chairman of Azerbaijan Popular Front Party Hasan Karimov told APA that the discussions had not ended. He said it was early to pass a decision.
“We will participate in the elections either within a bloc, or by keeping the movement. We will find the mechanism of joint participation in the elections. President of Public Forum for Azerbaijan Eldar Namazov said he had not determined his position on the form of participation in the local elections.
“We will pass a decision after thoroughly discussing this issue. Discussions will also be held with the parties represented in the movement.
