Parliamentâ€™s standing commissions to name committees

According to changes, the Parliamentâ€™s standing commissions will be named committees. Draft referendum act on annexes and amendments to the Constitution also covers the issue. Article 92 of the Constitution covers organization of work of the Parliament of the Azerbaijan Republic and says that the Parliament of the Azerbaijan Republic determines procedure of its activity, elects its chairman and his deputies, organizes permanent and other commissions, and establishes Counting Chamber.
The word â€œStanding and otherâ€ exit instead of wordsâ€ committeesâ€ in current version of the Constitution.
Rafael Jabrayilov, member of the Parliamentâ€™s Standing Commission on Legal Policy and State Building commenting on the issue told APA that committees functioned in parliaments of several countries of the world.
â€œIf the proposal is approved, the Parliamentâ€™s committees will be more in number,â€ he said.
As regards function of commissions and not changing the word â€œcommissionsâ€, MP stated that the Parliament would be able to establish commission on any issue:
â€œToponymy Commission functions under MM at present. Such kind of commissions can be established on other issues as well,â€ he added.
