According to changes, the Parliament’s standing commissions will be named committees. Draft referendum act on annexes and amendments to the Constitution also covers the issue. Article 92 of the Constitution covers organization of work of the Parliament of the Azerbaijan Republic and says that the Parliament of the Azerbaijan Republic determines procedure of its activity, elects its chairman and his deputies, organizes permanent and other commissions, and establishes Counting Chamber.
The word “Standing and other” exit instead of words” committees” in current version of the Constitution.
Rafael Jabrayilov, member of the Parliament’s Standing Commission on Legal Policy and State Building commenting on the issue told APA that committees functioned in parliaments of several countries of the world.
“If the proposal is approved, the Parliament’s committees will be more in number,” he said.
As regards function of commissions and not changing the word “commissions”, MP stated that the Parliament would be able to establish commission on any issue:
“Toponymy Commission functions under MM at present. Such kind of commissions can be established on other issues as well,” he added.
